Vagal Vitality: Toning for physical, mental, and emotional health
The vagus nerve travels throughout the body connecting the brain to the gut, it is critically important to health, affecting everything from brain signaling to heart rate, breathing, immune function, digestion, and even the composition of our microbiome. Illness, infections, stress, and trauma can contribute to dysregulation of our nervous system leading to a feed forward loop of dysfunction. By toning and regulating the nervous system we can restore and encourage all aspects of health.
In this class we will learn about the nervous system as well as evidence based practices to tone the vagal nerve. We will explore tools such as breathe, sound, and movement to create safety within ourselves and learn how this can improve physiologic functioning. Meetings will take place in small groups because healing happens in community when we commit to showing up for ourselves and each other.
Classes starting in January and February. Fridays 4:30-5:30 in person (1501 Clement St. San Francisco, CA 94118 ) and Saturdays 1:00-2:00 PST via Zoom. Adolescent group: ages 13-17.
